Billing & Insurance

The physicians of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Associates are specialists trained in the medical and surgical care of the eye. Because initial exams are complete medical evaluations of the eye, it is our practice to bill your child’s examination to your medical insurance.

In order to diagnose and treat many eye conditions, during your child’s examination we will likely be performing a refraction, which is a specialized evaluation to determine the need for, and the prescription for glasses. This service is billed separately from the eye exam. For some eye conditions, certain insurances cover the cost of the refraction. In the case that your insurance does not cover the cost of the refraction, you will be responsible to pay for the service.

We participate in most major health plans including:

  • Independence Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • Aetna
  • UnitedHealthcare
  • Cigna
  • Keystone First
  • Health Partners
  • Amerihealth
  • Medicare and Medicaid

If you have specific questions about participation, please contact your insurance company.
